Gaza Under Fire

“We bear witness that there is no God but Allah, & we bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. ” This is what we saw & heard on TV screens by a Palestinian policeman lying on the ground between tens of dead policemen in Gaza just minutes before he gave his last breaths. On Saturdays December 27 2008, a massive wave of Zionist air strikes against the sealed off Gaza Strip claimed the lives of at least 220 people & injured several hundred innocent Palestinians.

The Zionist onslaught continues unabated over already starving, tired & wounded people. Many commentators & reporters affirm that this is the worst massacre Gaza has been subjected to since so-called Israel occupied in 1967. Meanwhile, none of the formal parties whether they are international, Arab or Islamic have done anything yet to stop the continuing genocide.

In the latest attacks, Zionist aircrafts bombed the Islamic University, all the Strip municipalities, formal offices, cultural & charitable societies, 5 mosques, Al-Shifa’ Hospital, fisher port & government buildings in Gaza Strip. Dozens of tunnels between Gaza & Egypt providing a lifeline to residents who are starved of basic supplies due to an 18 month long Israeli & Egyptian blockade have been completely destroyed.

Zionist forced have been massing on the border of Gaza Strip growing fears that the offensive could escalate as warplanes, helicopter gunships & military boats continue to pound the territory. Tolls pass 400 people killed & 2000 injured. More than 100 raids till this moment. Gaza totally-flat Strip whose area is 22 times smaller than Selangor ( Gaza = 365 km2, Selangor = 7956 km2 ) has turned into mass grave.

The scene of people screaming in grief while taking their family members to burial is repeated over & over. Amid the deep silence & apathy of all former Arab, Islamic & International regimes, every one of us has something to say, offer & do for their brothers & sisters who are under attack. Every one should have an answer for a Gazan who questioned “ I need to know what happened to Muslims, where are they ?. Anyone tells me. ”
